Arlington, Texas - March 7, 2020 - Lives will be changed and champions will be
crowned at RFD-TV’s The American Rodeo as the finals wrap up tomorrow at AT&T
Stadium in Arlington. As anticipation builds for tomorrow’s championships, the
athletes prepare for their final performance of the weekend.
“I am pleased
with the turn out from tonight’s event, and the athletes are leaving it all on
the dirt,” said Randy Bernard, CEO of RFD-TV’s The American Rodeo. “The energy
at AT&T Stadium tonight was outstanding. The stories will all unfold
tomorrow as the performances continue to be a nail-biter.”
Reigning world champion Tim O’Connell rode MS. ELLIE for 89.5 points
with Canadian Orin Larsen on XENA WARRIOR coming in second with 88.5 points.
They will welcome the crowd back to AT&T Stadium tomorrow for the eight
round for Bareback.
Less than a one second gap tells the story of which breakaway ropers
advance. The last lady out, Mia Manzanera roped with a time of 1.94 seconds to
win. Amongst the pack moving on is Kelsie Chace and multiple-time world
champion Jackie Crawford.
American match-up and 12-time NFR qualifier Luke Brown and Joseph
Harrison take first place with a 4.03 second run in the Team Roping. Trying to
defend their title, Cole Proctor and Ryan Motes will be returning after roping
in 4.7 seconds.
The Steer Wrestling’s top is stacked with the best in the world. Hunter
Cure, Matt Reeves and Tyler Pearson are just a few of the competitors to watch
on Sunday.
Eight seconds at a time, the Saddle Bronc riders all rode with a
purpose. Leading the pack going into Sunday is Wyatt Casper of Pampa, Texas who
rode ONION RING for a whopping 91.25 points. We will also see the likes of
Jacobs Crawley, Cole Elshere and Riggin Smith advance.
Will a million go home with a calf roper? Six qualifiers left Fort
Worth with money on their mind and showed they have what it takes to advance to
Sunday’s finals. Youngster Shad Mayfield shows no fear as he proved his talent,
walking away in the top position.
Brittany Tonozzi, Kassie Mowery and multiple-time NFR qualifier Stevi
Hillman all stopped the clock in less than 16 seconds in Barrel Racing.
2019’s Bull Riding champion, who walked away
with a third of a million dollars, goes into Sunday to defend his title. Joao
Ricardo Vieira rode THREE DAYS for 84 points to win. Sage Kimzey, Trey Benton
and Claudio Montanha Jr. all advance.
